USPS Rates Going Up, Again

For those that sell on eBay and use the United States Postal Service as a shipping option, get prepared to update your shipping prices once again. 
The USPS has just announced that the postal rates for First Class Mail are going up by one cent, effective 12 May 2008. There are also other rate adjustments contained within this announcement. This comes one year after the last rate increase, and the USPS has stated that the prices will be adjusted each May from now on.
The USPS also stated that new rates for Priority Mail, Express Mail, Parcel Select and International Mail will be announced next month.
These now yearly rate increases come courtesy of The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act that was passed in late 2006, which allows the USPS to make rate changes with only 45 days notice. Prior rate changes took much longer to get approved, which is why we never saw rate changes with this frequency prior to this law passing.
We remember the problems and work that the last round of changes caused us. We know that we don’t look forward to these changes anymore than the next person who sells on eBay.
