Selling on eBay is Real Work if You Want to be a Success

October 15, 2007

Let’s clear the air a bit before we get started. Selling on eBay is hard work. Being successful at selling on eBay is very hard work. Selling on eBay to make a full-time living is some of the hardest work you will ever do. However, it’s also some of the most rewarding work you can come by. You will have some of the most stressful days of your life while you struggle to make ends meet. However, the realization you are working for yourself, instead of some faceless corporation, is very rewarding and fulfilling in and of itself.

Contrary to what quite a few people might tell you, there is no easy path to make it rich selling on eBay. Anybody who would tell you otherwise is looking to make a quick buck off you – a snake oil salesman at best! While it is very tempting to be sucked into the hysteria when you are shown all sorts of photos of fancy boats, cars, and houses, don’t believe them!

It is a lot of hard work to be a success on eBay. You are constantly reinventing yourself, looking for new product to sell and new ways to market yourself so you stand out from the competition. If you figure out a product sourcing-and-selling system that works for you, the rewards are truly endless, but it does take a lot of work.

Not everybody will be successful enough selling on eBay to quit their day job; however, the lucky few will succeed. It is our desire to point your ship in the right direction and give you a gentle push. We hope you will be a success, although we understand if you decide it is easier to work for someone else.

We wrote this post not to scare you, or even discourage you. We wrote it to tell you what we have found to be true – Selling on eBay as your only source of income is difficult and, at times, scary.

Throughout this blog, it is our intention to tell you the truth, as we know it to be through our experiences selling on eBay. If you are looking for someone to tell you all is good, and all is easy, when it comes to making a buck on eBay, then you have come to the wrong place. If you want the straight-up truth, without the sugar coating, then you have come to the right place!
