We, too, are amazed at how sellers handle email correspondence. Our favorite are those that don't even reply to your email inquiry. We guess they just don't need our business!

We recommend that a buyer contact a seller via eBay's email system with a simple question to see what kind of response they get. This should be a good indicator as to what kind of a person the seller is and whether or not you want to do business with them.

You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the nasty Terms of Service (TOS) statements that some sellers put in their listings. We shake our heads when we see sellers literally yelling at their potential customers. Not a great way to run a business.

What surprises me is how rude some sellers are when they're asked this or other common questions. Having sold on eBay, I don't ask this question myself but I know a lot of new buyers who've been put off by a seller's nasty response to (or TOS statements about) these kinds of questions.
