If you have ever done any selling on eBay, you know that sometimes it can be a bit confusing trying to figure out exactly who has placed a bid on your auction. The problem is with the eBay proxy bidding system, which is when a bidder places the maximum amount they are willing to bid on an item and eBay will automatically place bids up to that maximum amount as the competing bidders place their bids.
Now this can be confusing to both veteran eBay sellers and those that are just learning how to sell on eBay. The most confusing aspect for us is how these proxy bids show up in your bid history. It can become downright confusing sometimes because the whole bidding trail is not shown.
eBay plans to do something about this as they have recently announced that in the next few weeks they will be giving you the option to show full bid history, including automatic proxy bids. You will have to click a link labeled “Show automatic bids” to reveal this expanded bid history. When rolled out, this link will be above the Bid Time column of the bid history table.
Hopefully, this will make it more clear as to who did what while bidding on your item. Now you will have one less thing confusing you in your quest to make money on eBay!
