Continuing Reaction to the Idea of Amazon Purchasing eBay

Yesterday we wrote a post about the idea of Amazon purchasing eBay. This post discussed a recent New York Times article about the very same subject. Since then, Saul Hansell of the New York Times has posted two additional follow-up articles.

Saul’s first follow-up post is about disappointed eBay buyers. His second follow-up post is about angry eBay sellers.

These two articles are worth reading to get a perspective as to what the general feeling about eBay is these days. Of course, you need to take everything you read with a grain of salt, as articles like these seem to really bring out the complainers.

Read through the extensive comments and you will see what we are talking about. It’s not all bad, though the comments tend to heavily lean in that direction.

We don’t mean for this post to be an eBay bashing event. After all, we have made a lot of money from selling on eBay and we still think that it is one of the best ways to start your own business.

We also are not here to sing the praises of Amazon. We have only very limited experience selling on Amazon. Currently, we only sell on eBay so we are not in the position to judge which is the better marketplace.

This just goes to show that you will find people who are happy with Amazon and those that are happy with eBay. You might even find people that are happy with both companies. We each have our own experiences and that is what we must go by when we choose to deal with a company.
