We are Marshall and Joli, online entrepreneurs (sounds fancy, doesn’t it?). In other words, we make a living via the Internet. We work from home and no longer answer to The Man.
While this most certainly sounds glamorous, and at times is, it is also one of the scariest things we ever done in our lives. The decision to cut all ties with the corporate world we were working in was something that we did not take lightly and was a very difficult decision for us. Saying goodbye to a steady, and decent, paycheck, full benefits, and everything else that comes with most corporate jobs was, to put it lightly, absolutely terrifying!
We just got to the point in our lives where we decided we no longer wanted to work for The Man and knew there had to be something more to life than working 9-to-5 in cubicle land. We always knew about eBay but never seriously considered it as a career path until we were watching a show on CNBC about selling on eBay. It was almost like a light bulb went off while we were watching that show. Maybe we can do this! We had been brainstorming something to do for ourselves, so it was almost like it fell right in our laps.
We did the prerequisite research (we research the heck out of everything!) and then took the drastic plunge of quitting our day jobs. We have not regretted our decision once. We are very excited about how far we have come and what lies ahead for us.
This has been an incredible journey from starting out not knowing much about selling on eBay (we had sold only a handful of items before quitting our jobs), to selling almost one quarter of a million dollars worth of products in our first 12 months of selling on eBay.
WOW! What a ride it has been! And we have so much more ahead of us as we continue to explore other options to make money online.
We are very excited about being able to share our past adventures, and our future ones, with you, our blogging audience. Sit back, relax and enjoy the journey we take you on throughout the coming months and years. We certainly hope you enjoy yourselves as we do our best to impart a little Lizard Wisdom on you.

Building up a strong reputation in forums is a great way to establish a reputation, build a following, and bring traffic to your site.
I read the ebook and thought we are on the right track. My wife is developing a ecommerce site and I am looking at working the ebay side. This would be the perfect time to see and accountant and maybe a lawyer. As you suggest very strongly. We live in New England, but my home town is Chicago. You mention that ebay live will be in Chicago in 2008 do you know what month? I want to start planning a business trip. We do highly recommend that you seek professional help (CPA, Lawyer) before you get too far along in your process. This will ensure that you have your business set up properly before you get too far along.
eBay Live will be in Chicago on June 19-21, 2008. You can go to pages.ebay.com/ebaylive for more information. eBay is still showing stuff related to eBay Live 2007, but has a banner on the side talking about Chicago. Registration opens up in February, so they should be updating this website soon.
